I am thinking about getting my associate in medical transcription and billing. I was going to put these skills together to make computer software for the medical companies. So I would also have to software engineering or something to that effect. Is it a bad idea? What are my prospects? (Please answer my question in detail)
I was also thinking doing contracting work for medical billing and transcription (OPINIONS)

Work at Home Medical Billing and Coding?

~Joy~ asked:

I am currently enrolled in an online college with a focus on medical billing and coding. I was wondering if anyone when of LEGITIMATE companies that hire to work from home with medical billing and coding. I am not interested in the companies that try to get you started and want to sell you software and so forth. I just want to know if anyone personally knows of a company who hires for this. Thanks, Joy
65% water: I wasn’t taken in by this company. It is an actual college for an AA in business with a focus on medical billing and coding. They didn’t make any assumptions about how or when I would be hired or what experience is required. I just love it when people blow questions way out of proportion and act like it’s a dumb question. If you think so, don’t reply. It’s that easy! :)
The companies that sell software that I am speaking of are trying to milk you for a few thousand dollars! It’s obviously a scam!
RedRose: Yes, I am very interested. If you could let me know the title I would VERY much appreciate it! :) Thanks so much!

Is $17million a lot of money to digitize the medical system?

Google already has a storage system for your medical records and Pay Pal should be able to give us a clue about the security issues.

Every doctor’s office I go in has plenty of computers as does the hospital. All they need is some software. Is that where the $17 million come from? Where is Bill Gates When you need him?

Am I being paid enough?

I’m developing a comprehensive medical scheduling, booking, and client registration software for a medical office that is powered by php, mysql, and ajax to be run locally on their network. I am also taking care and maintaining all of their computers and electronics in the office, so I maintain 7 palm pilots, several computers, and any other technological problems they have… I’ve seen the bills they used to pay for computer problems, they’d call in technicians nearly weekly and pay anywhere between $150 to $250 for visits that last 15 minutes to a few hours.

I’m only being paid $12.50 an hour and only being paid to work 30 hours a week, do you think I am being paid fairly to do all of this or should I be paid more? I’m pretty sure that the software alone that i’m developing should be a minimum of $10k if I was contracted, and I am technically contracted to wkr there until december.. but nothing more about programming.. am I being paid enough?
oh and all prices are in Canadian…
some more details, when I was originally hired they told me I would be able to sell this software to other practices but now since they said they’re paying me hourly, it is technically owned by them. I am going to create an agreement with signature on it after negotiating, but first I’d like to have some insight on fair pay… so please list references and cite sources to any information you provide in answers.

i am only a student in college.
@suli_as2000

initially yes, but nothing was signed other than a medical records confidentiality paper.. and what they’ve asked me to do in the beginning has changed to what is being asked now.. the terms have changed

What do I do now that I’ve graduated?

April 18th, 2009 admin 2 comments
ruthncls asked:

Last year I graduated from a technical school as a Medical Assistant. It was a poor decision to attend this school because the quality of the education was substandard. For example the software for medical billing wasn’t working and the instructor for the clinical part was inexperienced. To make matters worse, I was put into an externship site that was a nonprofit organization (a medical clinic for nonpaying patients) where I didn’t do much of anything. All these concerns were addressed to the administration but fell on deaf ears.
Now a year later, I still haven’t found a job in the medical field yet. Should I consider going back to school for a different career or still keep looking?

My 1st installation service statement read “past due” amount?

March 3rd, 2009 admin 1 comment
need2know asked:

I had an installation on 2-7-08. It reads like this :
Installation—Amount $30.00
Service Fee–$25.00
I sent the m.order off 2-28-08 ,the service is a one day mailing address from where I live.
I then received an invoice dated 2-27-08
which had charges:
2-29-08 Balance forward—$55.00
3-01-08 March Invoice–$25.00—Balance $80.00
At the bottom of this statement were :
Current:$25.00 1-30 days Past Due- $55.00 Amount Due: $80.00
It says for questions ,please call.So ,I called to ask how I could be past due when I’ve only had the service for 21 days.I already lost 7days of service. The woman who handles custumer service .Said it was just how their computer software, has to have new customer information in.And that she knew I was not “past due”.
I told her I was concerned with having a “past due”status on my bill.
She said “Well,if it’s going to be a problem, they could come and pick up the unit.”
This is a medical item a family member needs, which I also had to send for an
additional piece of equipment to go with it for $200.00.
I went hand delivered another $25.00 for next March 1st payment to be on time. But why should I accept my bill being of “past due” status when it is not.And it’s as if, being the type of medical equipment you are dependant upon. They could so easily say,we’ll just come and get it.I was not talking mean to this woman on the phone.I just wanted my status of past due taken off at some point.I do pay my bills on time! What do you think?

Any ideas..anyone. My mind draws a blank.
