How to start a business in the future?

Ismail E asked:

I am thinking about getting my associate in medical transcription and billing. I was going to put these skills together to make computer software for the medical companies. So I would also have to software engineering or something to that effect. Is it a bad idea? What are my prospects? (Please answer my question in detail)
I was also thinking doing contracting work for medical billing and transcription (OPINIONS)

The programs for medical billing already exist. You would have to write a better one.

that kind of software already exists from many companies. – no sense trying to re-invent the wheel – getting an assoc degree in medical transcription and billing will only teach you how to use the existing software – if you want to create an entirely new program, first, you would have to know what features users want in the software, etc. you would need to learn computer programming – usually a bachelors degree and then you’d have to spend months writing code, wondering if you are doing it right – all the while, not getting paid, then you would have to go out and try selling the programs (still not getting paid until you actually sell a copy) and it make take you months or years to sell your first copy (all the while still not getting paid)

That software already exists. New software probably isn’t really needed.
Also, to do contracting work, it takes years of experience in a hospital.
