Work at Home Medical Billing and Coding?

I am currently enrolled in an online college with a focus on medical billing and coding. I was wondering if anyone when of LEGITIMATE companies that hire to work from home with medical billing and coding. I am not interested in the companies that try to get you started and want to sell you software and so forth. I just want to know if anyone personally knows of a company who hires for this. 65% water: I wasn’t taken in by this company. It is an actual college for an AA in business with a focus on medical billing and coding. They didn’t make any assumptions about how or when I would be hired or what experience is required. I just love it when people blow questions way out of proportion and act like it’s a dumb question. If you think so, don’t reply. It’s that easy!
The companies that sell software that I am speaking of are trying to milk you for a few thousand dollars! It’s obviously a scam!

I believe there are several, but they require at least a couple of years of actual experience in an office. You say you don’t want the companies that try to sell software and so on, but you were apparently taken in by a company that led you to believe you could get training online and end up with a good job. That is almost never the case. All reputable companies want a history of actual experience.

Not sure of the name of the company, but I have a friend who does this in LA County and makes pretty good money doing it. I know that that company prefers to have folks work close to LA (I’m only 2.5 hours out of LA but still too far.).

Hi Joy! Yes, there are legitimate companies that hire people to do medical billing and coding from home. To find these companies and jobs, first go to job posting sites, such as HotJobs or Monster. Then, search through the medical billing and coding jobs using the keyword “telecommuting”
I also have a book that lists companies that hire for this kind of job. I don’t know the title off the top of my head, but if you’re interested, let me know and I’ll look for it.
